Feeding Hope To Our At-Risk Youth
About 2,740 children under the age of 18 face food insecurities in Jasper County, lacking access to three nourishing meals per day. This lifestyle compromises their chance of living a healthy lifestyle and performing well academically. These students depend on the school-based federal feeding programs to get a proper breakfast and lunch meal that will provide them with the nutrition needed to return to school energized and ready to learn.
|Southeast Texas Food Bank|
Southeast Texas Food Bank supports families that rely on free meals from schools for nutrition, by providing them with accessible, nutritious food to feed their children during the weekend. The Backpack Program has helped approximately 225 students this school year by providing a modest amount of taking home food to supplement the six-weekend meals of the children enrolled in the program.
70 percent of these students receive free or reduced school meals, meaning they are from communities where there is a high incidence of poverty and childhood hunger. We are on a mission to raise funds for Southeast Texas Food Bank and provide these students with the proper nutrition to live life to their full potential.
